If you haven’t learned this already from Mort Fertel you will soon enough and you should pay very close attention to it.
What is it you ask?
Yup… the object of this Mort Fertel Review is to go over piece by piece some of the most important things I learned from the Marriage Fitness course and how I use them daily to save my marriage.
Unfortunately not everything can be practiced daily. Of course talk charges and touch charges can but how about mini vacations. You can’t do them every day of course but once a year is just as powerful if not more.
You see, I’m actually writing this post right now while sitting on my patio in Negril Jamaica. This is Denise and my 6th year in row coming here for our 4 night annual mini vacation. Per Mort Fertel and his Marriage Fitness course, he suggests (which I interpreted as insists) going on annual mini vacations.
The theory is simple. This time away from the home WITHOUT the kids gives you and your spouse the time to connect again like you did when you first fell in love. And boy does it work.
Today is Wednesday and we arrived Monday afternoon and my wife and I are having a blast. Laughing… kissing… holding hands walking down the beach. Meeting strangers and just having a good time with no worries about cooking… parenting… disciplining… cleaning. All the daily grind items that life throws at you and takes away from you opportunity to love your spouse.
However, for the next 4 days on our mini vacation, we’ll do none of that. Instead there will be times where we just gaze in each other’s eyes and tell each other how much we love one another. It will bring back some serious memories of when we first met. The love that’s in the air around us right now is contagious.
Now, we’re not disgusting and slobbering all over each other but people can just tell we’re madly in love. If they only knew 7 years ago I was on the verge of divorce and trying desperately to figure out how I could save my marriage.
They don’t need to! As far as they are concerned they now just see 2 people madly in love who look like the farthest thing ever from a couple who had to fight tooth and nail to save a marriage.
Truth be told, the only thing they remember now is how I surprised my wife last year right here at this hotel with a surprise wedding vow renewal ceremony. It was the most amazing gift I’ve ever given and the best surprise ever pulled off. My wife had no clue.
In fact we were looking at the set up unfold in front of us and my wife and our friends who were with us at the time kept commenting on how we should stay a little longer to see the ceremony before we go to dinner. And of course they also commented on how beautiful the set up was and what a lucky girl and all that. I was like a giddy school boy inside knowing it was me who pulled all this off.
And bam out of nowhere, we’re sitting have a few drinks and then she’s rushed away by one of the local staff under false pretense. The next time I see her is 5 minutes later when she’s walking down the beach aisle hand in hand with one of the staff absolutely bawling. I’ve never seen a grown woman cry this hard before.
Bingo! I did it. What a magical piece of the puzzle to add to my journey I started 7 years ago when I vowed to save my marriage at all costs. It was the best promise I made myself and it serves me daily.
Could I have done all this on my own? No way.. impossible! Prior to learning about Mort Fertel and Marriage Fitness, I was on track to destroy my marriage at every turn.
